What is Coaching?

Coaching offers an all too rare opportunity to have dedicated, uninterrupted, 1:1 support in focusing on your situation.

The coach is a ‘back stage’ support who will work with you to:

  • Devise an approach to address the challenges you are facing
  • Come up with an action plan to move you forwards
  • Hold you accountable for actually taking those steps

During a coaching session you can expect:

  • To be listened to with real attention to who you are and what you want to achieve from the time together
  • For the coach to reflect back to you what they have understood
  • To be encouraged to realise you have all the resources you need to overcome obstacles, rise to challenges and take action to reach your full potential
  • For the coach to challenge you and seek to bring a fresh perspective that you may not have considered before
  • To agree what actions you need to take to move forward, either by the next session or longer term

Between sessions the coach may keep in touch to monitor what progress has been made and hence hold you accountable. This may not always be comfortable but is essential if progress is to be made.

What the coach is NOT there for is to solve your problems for you! It is absolutely essential that each individual accepts responsibility for their own life and the outcomes that make it up. Coaching is therefore non directive.

Only YOU have the power to make changes in your life!
